What's New?

Obesity as a result of a poor diet or a lack of physical activity was responsible for 400,000 deaths last year in the United States. That is far more than the amount of deaths caused by firearms and motor vehicles last year combined.

Obesity is when your body fat increases to a level that may impair your health. The excess fat is measured by what they call BMI body mass index, and is calculated by a person’s weight in kilograms divided by the square of his or her height in meters. So if you have a BMI of 25, you’re considered overweight and if your BMI is 30 or more, you’re considered obese.

So, if your BMI increases over 21, you’re at risk of many serious health diseases such as cancer, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Facing any of the above would prompt me to do something about it immediately. Remember! We only have one life; it’s up to
each of us to make it worth while.

Our breathing is affected, your energy levels decrease and hey! Your body size is out of proportion. But even more dangerous, here a few other disorders that may come with obesity:

Gall bladder disease
Abnormal fat levels in your blood
Gout
Sleep apnea syndrome (interrupted breathing as you sleep)
Arthritis
Stroke and coronary heart disease

You know, you may have one of these diseases and not even know about it, some are silent and strike when we least expect it. It’s important to make the lifestyle and eating habit change to loose the weight and keep it off. It all has to start with one small step;
will power.

Fast food

One of the factors to consider when trying determining if fast food can cause obesity is other lifestyle choices that might affect body weight as well. For example, many families who frequent the fast food chains also have a tendency to keep less healthy nutritional choices in the pantry at home. The absence of fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains can make the effects of the burgers and fries that much more severe. It has also been found in studies that slender teens who choose fast food on occasion will balance that choice by consuming fewer calories the rest of the day. Obese and overweight teens do not have the tendency to make those types of choices. While there may be evidence to show that fast food causes obesity, it seems that other factors and choices come into play as well.
